Friends of IHES is delighted to welcome Amal Moussa<\/a> to its Board of Directors, which she officially joined on July 1, 2025.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Moussa is a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs <\/a>in New York, where she leads the Single Stocks Exotic Derivatives Trading desk. Alongside her work in finance, she shares her expertise as an Adjunct Professor<\/a> at Columbia University<\/a>, teaching in the Mathematics of Finance<\/a> and Financial Engineering<\/a> master\u2019s programs. She also serves on the advisory board of Columbia\u2019s Center for Artificial Intelligence in Business Analytics and Financial Technology<\/a>.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n Passionate about mentoring, Amal dedicates time to supporting young students and professionals across the financial industry. She is also a board member of the Columbia Alumni Association<\/a>.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n Amal began her academic journey in France, completing the Classes Pr\u00e9paratoires<\/em> in Mathematics and Physics at Lyc\u00e9e Pierre de Fermat in Toulouse. She went on to earn a Grande \u00c9cole <\/em>engineering degree in Computer Science from T\u00e9l\u00e9com Paris<\/a>, followed by a master\u2019s degree in mathematics from Sorbonne Universit\u00e9<\/a>, where she specialized in Probability and Finance.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n Her interest in financial mathematics eventually brought her to the United States, where she earned a PhD in Statistics at Columbia University under the supervision of Rama Cont<\/a>, who introduced her to Friends of IHES in 2023.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n Since then, Amal has become an active member of the Friends of IHES community. She attended the 2023 Gala in New York and participated in events like Hugo Duminil-Copin\u2019s keynote lecture<\/a> at the French Consulate and the celebration of Friends of IHES\u2019 25th Anniversary <\/a>in 2024.
